Dossier foundation QA: readability & spatial rhetoric
This entry is a published verification surface for the editorial dossier foundation. Read it in both Midnight and Clinical. Scan first for measure and hierarchy, then for component behavior.
What you should see
- Sans on titles and UI chrome (IBM Plex Sans)
- Serif on long-form paragraphs (Source Serif 4)
- Mono on dates, tags, chart ticks, and
label-capsmetadata (JetBrains Mono) - Prose capped near
max-w-prose; grids and charts allowed to span the dossier shell - Sharp architecture only: hairline borders,
rounded-none, no drop shadows
Callout variants
Each variant maps to a semantic accent token. Labels stay mono uppercase; body copy stays serif.
Two-column grid (text + chart)
Markdown paragraphs inside column <div>s are required. JSX <p> wrappers
nest into invalid <p><p> under MDX and collapse the grid.
Column A — analytic move
This column should sit at roughly half the shell width on desktop. Body text here is serif. The heading above is sans. If this column looks crushed into a few characters, the grid track is still broken.
Column B — evidence
Three-column grid
Equal tracks, mono labels, hairline frames only via surrounding components.
Scan
One claim. One sentence. No card chrome.
Pressure
Where the series diverge, brief the gap — not the average.
Action
Ask for the coalition cut before the next steer-co.
Standalone bleed chart
Outside a grid, DataChart should span the dossier shell (wider than the
serif prose column above and below).
Prose resumes at measure after the chart. This paragraph should not stretch edge-to-edge with the shell; it should re-enter the reading column.
Methodology accordion
Method note — QA series construction
Both charts use invented indices for layout verification. Replace with vault datasets before any advisory use. Expand/collapse chrome is hairline only; labels are mono caps.

Explicit Bleed
Authors can force shell width around arbitrary blocks:
bleed probe
This framed strip should match chart/grid width, not the prose measure.
Readability checklist
- Toggle Midnight ↔ Clinical; callouts, charts, and diagram remain legible.
- Confirm two-column grid is equal tracks (not asymmetric overflow).
- Confirm standalone chart is wider than adjacent paragraphs.
- Confirm no soft shadows, pill buttons, or blurred header.
- Confirm dates/tags in the page chrome render in monospace.
If all five pass, the foundation is green for further E2 advisory components.
