The MDX Toolkit: Visualizing Political Architecture

A log entry is not only prose. When the reader is scanning for argument, method, and evidence at different depths, Markdown alone flattens the architecture. MDX lets a post behave like a small interactive dossier: claims stay visible, method stays available, and figures stay tied to the paragraph that needs them.

Use the theme toggle in the header while you read. Every component below is built from the same Clinical / Midnight tokens, so the dossier should remain legible when the surface flips.

Callouts

Callouts mark actionable intelligence without breaking the narrative flow. A thesis frames the claim a scanner should leave with; a warning flags the misread that usually follows.

Spatial rhetoric

A two-column grid keeps the reading path close to the evidence. The left column states the analytic move; the right column holds the series that makes the move falsifiable.

Reading the split

Rhetoric can accelerate while institutional load rises more slowly. The gap is the briefing point: pressure is accumulating somewhere the speech acts have not yet priced in.

Methodology shield

Scanners should not be forced through sampling notes before the claim. An accordion keeps method one click away without hiding it from analysts who need the audit trail.

Method note — index construction

Both series are illustrative indices on a 0–100 scale. Rhetoric is a smoothed mention intensity for contested institutional keywords; institutional load is a composite of procedural backlog signals. Replace either series with field data before treating the chart as advisory evidence.

Rich media

Diagrams belong in the same dossier surface as prose and charts. Keep assets local, require alt, and caption the figure so the point survives without the image.

Author note

Write the tags in Obsidian (Callout, Grid, Accordion, DataChart, Diagram). Next.js registers them globally in the MDX map, so posts do not import component paths. Inside <Grid> columns, prefer markdown paragraphs (or <div>) — do not wrap copy in JSX <p>, which MDX nests into invalid <p><p> and breaks the grid. The browser — not the vault preview — is the proof of render. Flip Midnight ↔ Clinical before you change status to published.

This post is the canonical public tour of the E1 toolkit. Internal QA coverage stays in a separate draft kitchen-sink and is never required for production readers.
